Ramset 1000 AC Slide Gate Operator – Installation Overview

1. Site Preparation

1. Check Gate Movement:
   Ensure the sliding gate moves freely on its track. The gate must roll smoothly with minimal friction before installing the operator.

2. Mounting Pad:

   • Prepare a concrete pad (approx. 12" x 18" x 6") next to the gate track.

   • Allow space for chain alignment and service access.

   • The pad should be level and solidly cured before mounting the operator.

3. Power Source:

   • The Ram 1000 AC requires a dedicated 115V AC power line with a grounded circuit.

   • Use a licensed electrician if needed.

   • Install a conduit from the power source to the operator location.

2. Mounting the Operator

1. Position the Ram 1000 AC unit parallel to the gate and align the drive sprocket with the gate chain line.

2. Anchor the operator base to the concrete pad using expansion bolts or anchors.

3. Ensure the output sprocket is at the same height as the gate’s chain line for smooth engagement.

3. Chain or Rack Installation

1. Attach the gate chain or gear rack to the gate, maintaining even tension along the full length.

2. Leave a small amount of slack (approx. ½") to prevent strain on the motor.

3. Loop the chain around the motor sprocket and secure it with master links.

4. Move the gate manually to verify smooth operation.

4. Electrical Connections

1. Power Wiring:

   • Connect the power leads to the L1 (hot) and L2 (neutral) terminals on the control board.

   • Ground the unit properly.

2. Control Wiring:

   • Connect open/close push buttons, limit switches, and stop switch as per wiring diagram.

   • Ensure all low-voltage accessories are properly fused or isolated.

3. Photo Cell Sensor (Safety Sensor):

   • Mount transmitter and receiver units facing each other on opposite sides of the gate path.

   • Wire them to the photo eye safety input terminals on the control board.

   • Confirm proper alignment — the LED should indicate “clear path.”

5. Limit Switch Adjustment

1. The Ramset 1000 uses magnetic or mechanical limit switches to control open and close positions.

2. Move the gate manually to full open and full close positions.

3. Adjust limit switch cams or magnets so the motor stops just before the physical gate stops.

4. Tighten limit switch mounts after proper positioning.

6. Control Board Setup

1. Connect all accessories (photo eyes, loop detectors, receiver, keypad).

2. Power on the unit and observe the control LEDs.

3. Set operating mode (auto-close, manual, etc.) according to user preference.

4. Test the remote receiver and control buttons.

7. Test and Safety Check

1. Run several open/close cycles to ensure smooth and consistent motion.

2. Verify the photo cell stops the gate when obstructed.

3. Test manual release in case of power failure — gate should move freely when disengaged.

4. Check all bolts, chain tension, and electrical connections.

5. Confirm the control board and motor are not overheating.

 8. Final Adjustments & Maintenance Tips

• Recheck chain alignment and tension after first week of operation.

• Apply light chain lubricant periodically.

• Keep the operator housing clean and dry.

• Test safety features monthly (photo eye, stop input, manual release).

• Never bypass safety circuits.

Safety Warnings

• Installation must comply with UL 325 and ASTM F2200 standards.

• Only qualified personnel should wire or service the unit.

• Do not allow anyone to ride or stand near a moving gate.

• Always disconnect power before servicing.
